Can't figure out how to install downloaded programs, using missing sync. Can you point me in the right direction?
Also, tried to sync music from itunes playlists, but many won't, saying in protected format. What formats can't be downloaded? must I convert them?
Thanks!

The Missing Sync for BlackBerry version 1.0 does not install BlackBerry applications via USB. You can purchase BlackBerry applications from the built-in store tab and those applications will get installed over-the-air.

Protected music files are NOT copied to the device because you can't play them since no player exists that will play DRM protected files from iTunes. So, yes, you would have to convert such files to MP3 to be able to sync them to the BlackBerry and then play them.

Not a lot of selection there, wouldn't you agree? Any plans to let us Mac folks install software that is downloaded from other sources? Not only that, but your system requires us to *buy* software...I want to try the trials first.

Hmm...having just moved over from a WM device, I'm a bit disappointed that I can't mount the volume or drop files into the BB using MS. Is this a feature that's in the works, or is there a reason it can't be done? (I doubt it's not possible, since the Windows desktop manager allows it....)

We do plan to add an Install feature in a future release. As it turns out installing apps is pretty complex so we still have more work to do on that feature. But we do see it as a great feature.

We also expect the selection in the built-in store to continue and grow.

This IS different than installing BlackBerry applications.

You can mount the BlackBerry MicroSD card on the Mac and copy files to the card, same as in Windows. Check your device Options > Advanced Options > Media Card settings. Turn the "Media Card Support" and the "Mass Storage Mode Support" options to on. Then when you connect the device via USB the card will mount. There are also options to have the device prompt you whether to mount the card or just to always mount the card.

Granted, you can't copy files to or from the Internal Memory, but I don't think the Windows software allows that either (I could be wrong).

And as mentioned before, in a future version we do hope to allow the installation of BlackBerry applications via the USB connection.

thanks for responses. I certainly hope that program install will be a priority project. Essential in my opinion.

I absolutely agree...3rd party apps installation is a massive addition..much needed!!!!! Please make this a priority! I've used the windows desktop manager and it's quite smooth..hope MS does the same!!

I am hoping so as well. I tried to install Missing Sync and PocketMac to the same machine just so I could install software, but they did not play well together. I prefer Missing Sync so I uninstaller PocketMac, but I am really missing the ability to install software. Particularly the trial versions as mentioned above.

This is near criminal to sell this software for a fee without this functionality. I am really disappointed and feel like this is a v.01, not a v1.0 piece of code. Please let us know when this is scheduled to be fixed!!!! :x

i feel compelled to mention that i, too, am surprised that this feature is not included in a piece of $40 software. nowhere at all in the "known issues" or "features" sections is this mentioned, and that MUST be rectified.

having purchased this less than an hour ago, i somewhat regret it, knowing that if i want to install any software, i will have to resort to pocket mac. (which, as you all know, requires an UNINSTALL of missing sync, and reinstall of pocket mac)

i DO have to thank mark/space for having the courage to fill a huge void in mac blackberry software by creating this product. i hold no ill-will, and what does work, works well. however, new BB/mac owners need to see, in large print, that this software will NOT allow software installation to your handheld.

if beta testers are needed to expedite the process, i'm MORE than willing to volunteer.

I keep checking back all the time hoping for news on this feature. Currently I need to keep Pocket Mac installed on my desktop and Missing Sync installed on my laptop to gain the functionality that I need.

I would be more than happy to volunteer my time to beta testing as well. This is an important feature that needs to be added to Missing Sync for BlackBerry.

Agreed. Fortunately I have a PC if I need to use the BB Desktop Manager, but still, Mac users need to be informed.

The very sad thing here is that even though we should demand more features in Missing Sync for Blackberry for the price (in addition to our hardware and service costs), the fact is that it works well. Another product which shall not be named is complete and utter crap, and one of the most un-Mac Mac-only apps in existance.

That said, I hope it takes quite a bit of feature adds before this product goes 2.0, and that those features come in a free update for eairly adopters.

And selling dirt-cheap licenses for similar products, say Missing Sync for Palm, when another product is already purchased would be nice.
